A Wakefield based curtain walling and rainscreen cladding specialist, which has defied the recession by scoring record years in 2010 and 2011, has warned that it expects 2012 to be another tough but stunning year for business.

NG Developments (Normanton) Ltd, based in Normanton, Wakefield and one of the UK’s leading specialists in design, manufacturing and installation of architectural aluminium glazing systems and Rainscreen Cladding systems saw exceptional growth in 2010, 2011 and despite the current economic climate, expects further growth in 2012. Nestlé’s Project Hubble in York

The Yorkshire manufacturing business has recently secured six new projects with the majority of the growth coming from its strong experience in the retail sector. The company has been fitting sophisticated glass and glazing systems into the nation’s top supermarkets for more than eight years. It has also had huge success in the Building Schools for the Future(BSF) campaign, recently completing phase one of the huge City School project in Sheffield (a project worth in excess of £1million), whilst securing ‘Contractor of the Month Safety Award’, two months running, for its exceptional delivery of the job. Work on Phase 2 begins in March.

Adrian Lee, commercial director at NG commented: “We have really enjoyed the last couple of years and we have seen our turnover rise quite dramatically which is testament to some of the successful projects we have been involved with. Although it’s a tougher market we know that there is still business out there to be won. The squeeze on budgets has created a much more prudent approach with finances but we are in the final throws of negotiations for further retail projects for the summer and beyond that.

One of the exciting projects that NG Developments is delighted to have won is Nestlé’s Project Hubble in York, which will be its first partnership with Simpsons of York who act as the main contractor. The scheme which starts in two weeks is more than 800sq metres of glazing and was designed by DLA. The project will include a stunning glass roof-light, an impressive exterior curtain wall design, aluminium Brise Soleil and a bespoke glass fin Brise Soleil which will all be purpose-built in NG’s Wakefield factory.
Lee continued: “We are delighted to be working on the Nestle scheme as it’s a going to be a fantastic Yorkshire project and it really is going to be truly stunning when it’s completed.”

The finished design of the Nestle project can be viewed on the DLA’s website.

NG Developments has recently completed several projects including Tesco stores in Eston and Hornsea, a Sainsbury’s in Welwyn Garden City and a Travelodge in Manchester. To add to the Nestle project due to be started next month and phase two of the City School project, NG will also be working on a new Waitrose’ store in Southampton.
