Made in Yorkshire are excited to meet up with members at the very first breakfast event of the year, which will be hosted at 3M Buckley Innovation Centre (3M BIC) in Huddersfield.

This year, we aim to host a record amount of breakfast events, following our historic merger with Manufactured Yorkshire. The deal now enables thought leadership and best practice to be shared all year around amongst Yorkshire manufacturers.

3M BIC facilitates business growth through a range of dedicated technical, professional and commercial support services, as well as encourages business to business and business to academia collaboration with the University of Huddersfield.

Centre Manager of 3M BIC, Dr. Michael Wilson stated: “We’re looking forward to showcasing the 3M BIC to fellow members and other businesses, especially those that are unfamiliar with the Centre. Providing them with a better understanding of our purpose and the services we provide to facilitate business growth should lead to mutual collaboration.”

This event will provide Yorkshire manufacturers with a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the high-tech resources that are available locally. Innovation Avenue that runs through the heart of the Centre, houses a range of high-tech specialist equipment and resources, these are available to all businesses with designated technical support on hand.

The event has already seen a great level of ticket sales, which is further proof of the desire that Yorkshire manufacturers have to grow and innovate, as Dr. Wilson explained: “We provide a one-stop-shop for organisations to access all they need for innovation and growth. Support can be accessed through our Business Engagement Centre that provides a diagnostic approach to business support, with technical experts and manufacturing support specialists ready to assist and give advice to businesses, as well as academic and professional advisors. Businesses can also access the facilities on Innovation Avenue, which houses start-of-the-art facilities, including additive manufacturing, virtual reality, x-ray fluorescence, high performance computing and surface metrology.”

All attendees are provided with the opportunity to network over breakfast, prior to a short presentation from 3M BIC and a tour of their premises. Each attendee has a chance to perform a 60 second pitch to showcase your company and highlight areas of collaboration.

Dr. Wilson encouraged members to attend the event, to discover how they 3M BIC can support their business, as she concluded: “The services at the 3M BIC are available to businesses of all sizes that require technical, professional or academic support. We’re there to help mentor, support and help find solutions to problems, whether it’s to help a business get to the next level, improve an existing product or provide input from an expert to develop a new one.”

In the last three years members have created more than 1,000 new jobs, which makes this one of the most dynamic collection of people within industry.
